Our History...
Our course instructor, Elize Hattingh, started Green Talent during her post-graduate studies in Sustainable Development and Management at the Sustainability Institute, University of Stellenbosch. Her vision was to commit her career to supporting Sustainability Skills Development in Africa. Today,
Elize offers online courses based on her personal career development experience in a broad range of Sustainability fields that combine her 15 years of work experience.
Green Talent`s Career Development Courses are carefully curated to support other Sustainability Professionals to stay up to date with the Sustainable Development Agenda and to access career pathways that are aligned to building a more inclusive, low-carbon economy.
Students from all over Africa participated in a Green Talent campaign at the Sustainability Institute (SI) during 2011 to share their transdisciplinary skills, knowledge and work experience. Elize interviewed over 200 alumni from the program at the SI that graduated between 2002 and 2011 to better understand their career pathways for her Master`s Thesis.

We hosted our 1st Seminar with Sustainability University education providers at Spier Winefarm in 2011. We invited representatives from our 1st seminar with Sustainability Education Providers from Stellenbosch University (Sustainability Institute & Business School), Rhodes University, University of Cape Town and GCX.
Green Talent was established to respond to the growing need for sustainability professionals to advance a green economy.
The role that Green Talent played during 2011-2015 was to establish a Sustainability Career Development Centre that provided a platform for industry leaders, sustainability professionals and course providers to communicate critical skills needs, vacancy offerings and education and training offerings.
Since 2011 to 2025 Green Talent`s mission evolved to focus on Career Development for Professionals and Green Entrepreneurs to access affordable short courses that can advance their careers!
The course provider, Elize Hattingh, captures her own career development insights and 15 years of work experience to empower Sustainability Professionals.
Her expertise helped hundreds of sustainability career seekers with career development. Today, she continues to provide Sustainability Career Guidance through her online courses.

Green Talent brought leading sustainability educators together to discuss Sustainability Literacy needs in Africa. Each course provider had the opportunity to present their curriculum and this was followed by a workshop to unpack curriculum gaps.
The seminar was held in the spirit of collaboration with the common goal to ensure the education material that meets the needs to equip sustainability professionals with their career development to create a positive impact and address climate change challenges.
